EQUIPMENT:
Each player needs to brings one soccer ball to practice.
Each player needs to wear shin guards to games and practice.
Each player needs to wear the team jersey to games can wear it to practice.
DIRECTIONS:
Game Location: Trent Elementary, 3303 N Pines Rd
North of I-90 on Pines Road just south of the Trent and Pines Intersection on
the west side of Pines.
Practice Location: Riverwalk Addition Soccer Field.
Take the Barker exit (Barker Road) off I-90 drive north to Indiana Avenue. Turn right (east) and drive to Salmon River Lane. Turn right (south) and drive one and half blocks. The soccer field is on the left (east).

Rules
(under 5 as of Aug. 1st, 2004)
Rule 1 - Field:
A. approximate dimensions: 30 yards long and 20 yards wide
B. Goals
1. Approximately 6 feet wide
2. Flags of approximately 5 feet in height shall make the goal
(shots higher than this do not count as a score)
Rule 2 - Ball:
A. size 3
Rule 3 - Number of Players (3v3):
A. Three (3) players (for each team), NO goalkeeper
(goalie).
B. All players play in at least one-half of each game. Coaches must get approval
from the league (VYSL) before NOT allowing any player to play their time
allotment.
C. Substitutions may be made at any time the ball is out of play (no matter
whose possession it is). They should be made promptly to avoid delay of game.
Rule 4 - Equipment:
A. Soccer shoes or "tennis" shoes. Shin guards are mandatory and must be covered
with socks if hard plastic exposed.
B. VYSL assigned jersey
Rule 5 - Referee:
A. Each coach/team furnishes a parent to referee for half of the game time.
B. Emphasis is on safety of the players.
B. Decisions of the volunteer parent referee are final.
C. Referees are encouraged to explain infraction to the players.
Rule 6 - Linesman:
A. No linesman. Parents should help on out-of-play calls.
Rule 7 - Duration of Game:
A. There shall be four (4) ten (10) minute quarters. The half time break shall
be 5 minutes. The break between quarters shall be two (2) minutes. Games should
start on time. The clock normally runs continuously. There are no timeouts for
substitutions, retrieval of the ball, or for minor injuries.
B. Times for game and/or breaks may be shortened or lengthened by mutual consent
of both coaches, as long as the changes do not interfere with another scheduled
game.
Rule 8 - Start of Play
A. Opponents will be three (3) yards from the center mark to start the kick
off. The ball must role forward before it is in play, and must not be touched
twice by the player starting the play, until it is touched by another player.
Rule 9 - Ball Out Of Play
A. Ball must be COMPLETELY over the line, in the air or on the ground, to be
considered out of play.
B. Balls out-of-play will be re-started with a kick-in (see rule 15).
Rule 10 - Scoring
A. The WHOLE ball must completely cross the goal line between the goal
posts and under 5 feet high (flag height).
Rule 11 - Offside
A. There is NO offside at this age group.
Rule 12 - Fouls and Misconduct
A. All intentional fouls or unintentional fouls that may increase the
chance of injury, will result in an indirect free
kick, with the opponents at least six (6) yards away.
B. Referee is encouraged to explain all rule infractions and fouls to the
offending players.
C. All dead balls (for fouls or injuries) will be re-started from the point of
where the ball was located, prior to play being stopped. The ball will be given
to the last team in control of the ball when play was stopped.
D. All re-starts will be indirect free kicks (No drop balls).
E. There will be no cautions (yellow cards) or ejections (red cards).
Rule 13 - Free Kicks
A. All free kicks shall be indirect, with opponents at least six (6) yards
away.
B. A goal may not be scored on an indirect free kick until touched by a second
player from either team.
C. Free kicks within the goal area (at either end) will be taken from the
nearest point on the six yard line.
Rule 14 - Penalty Kicks
A. There are NO penalty kicks at this age. All fouls or rule infractions within
the goal area will result in an indirect free kick from the nearest point on the
six (6) yard line. Opponents (defenders) shall be at least six (6) yards away
from the ball.
Rule 15 - Throw In (Kick-In)
A. Kick-ins will be used instead of throw-ins. Defenders shall be at least six
(6) yards away from the ball for a kick-in.
Rule 16 - Goal Kick
A. Goal kicks result when the entire ball crosses over the goal line and
possession goes to the team defending that goal.
B. Goal kicks may be taken from anywhere inside the goal area or on the six (6)
yard line.
C. A goal cannot be scored on a goal kick until it has been touched by second
player on either team.
Rule 17 - Corner Kick
A. Corner kicks result when the entire ball crosses over the line and
possession goes to the offensive team attacking that goal.
B. Opponents (defenders) must be at least six (6) yards away from the ball.
Additional Rules -
A. There will be no slide tackling (player sliding on the ground to
contact the ball) to reduce the risk of injuries. An indirect free kick shall be
awarded to the other team for this infraction.
B. A COACH from either team will be allowed on the field to assist players with
understanding rules, fouls, and general play. Coaches should avoid being on the
field, except when needed.
C. NO DOGS are allowed on any school or field location during any soccer
activities (to comply with property owner restrictions, organizational
liability, and reduce the risk of injury).
D. Alcohol and tobacco are not permitted on any school or field location during
any soccer activity.
